One is a single variety. One is a blend, on purpose.

Most olive oil on a shelf is blended from fruit bought in across many groves, often many farms. Blending is not the problem — not being able to find out whose fruit it was, is.

Koroneiki is a single variety and nothing else. The Greek olive: small fruit, high in polyphenols, grassy and sharp with a real catch of pepper at the back of the throat. That catch is the polyphenols, and it is what you are paying for. It is a finishing oil — on bread, over a salad, anywhere it is meant to be tasted.

Family Blend is exactly what the name says. Blended for a rounder, more buttery oil that does not fight the food, which is why it is the one most people cook with daily. Different job, same ground.

Both come off this farm

Same groves, same harvest, same press. The only thing that changes is the fruit that goes in — one variety on its own, or several blended for balance.

Most people who cook a lot end up keeping both on the counter: the Family Blend for the pan, the Koroneiki for the plate.

Who makes it

The same family, the same ground

Ward and Rosie Burroughs, and their daughter Benina Montes, who runs the farm today. Five generations on the same ground since 1894.

The olives grow alongside the almonds, on the same certified ground and under the same practices — cover crops, sheep between the rows, hedgerows for the insects.

E.V.O.O. is out of this world fresh, grassy, and delicious! The shipping is lacking. Packaging was compromised and oil jug leaked oil out.
Thank you,

When only the finest ingredients will do for your special recipes, this is the go-to for olive oil. Here it was used both in the homemade cracker recipe itself and with extra brushed on after they cooled for even more scrumptious flavor. Have also used this olive oil in homemade marinated mushrooms. It brings out the best flavor in whatever you make!!

This EVOO solidifies in the ridge which means it is authentic and not blended with any other inferior oil. The second test for authenticity is whether or not the EVOO causes a slight burn at the back of your throat. This EVOO checks that box too. This is an outstanding product. Even at Whole Foods, it is not easy finding an authentic EVOO. Fake EVOO is everywhere...google it if you don't believe me. Thank you, Burroughs!

Questions

Before you order

What is the difference between the Koroneiki and the Family Blend?

Koroneiki is a single variety — grassy, sharp, with a strong peppery finish and high polyphenols. Family Blend is a blend, made for a rounder and more buttery oil that suits everyday cooking. Most people who cook a lot end up with both.

What is Regenerative Organic Certified®?

It is the highest standard in organic farming. Where USDA Organic tells you what a farm does not use, Regenerative Organic Certified® audits three things together: whether the soil is measurably improving, how the animals are treated, and whether the people working here are treated fairly.

How should I store it?

Somewhere cool and dark, with the cap on. Light and heat are what turn olive oil stale, not time on its own. Use it within a few months of opening.

Do you ship larger sizes?

Yes — Koroneiki is available by the gallon, and the Family Blend comes in half gallon and gallon. Sizes move through the year until the next harvest.
