The open secret in the category

Olive oil is one of the most adulterated foods you can buy

It is a well-documented problem: oil cut with cheaper seed oil, oil blended across several countries and sold as one, oil with no harvest date so you cannot tell whether it is one year old or four.

Extra virgin is a grade, judged on chemistry and taste, and both change as oil ages. It is not a promise about the bottle in front of you.

How we stack up

How ours compares

The useful questions are simpler than the grade on the front: whose trees the olives came off, when they were picked, and whether it is all olive oil to begin with.

E.V.O.O. is out of this world fresh, grassy, and delicious! The shipping is lacking. Packaging was compromised and oil jug leaked oil out. Thank you, a.a.h.

FAQ

Questions we actually get

How to store it

Cool, dark, lid on. Heat and light are what age olive oil. The cupboard beside the stove is the worst place in the kitchen for it.

What's the difference from the Koroneiki?

The Family Blend is exactly that: three olive varieties grown in our orchards and pressed together, which is what gives it a smooth, buttery balance. It is the everyday bottle. The Koroneiki is a single variety, hand-harvested, with a robust peppery character and notes of green apple.

Why glass, and why is the gallon plastic?

Glass protects the oil best, so the 250 ml, 500 ml and half gallon are all glass. The gallon is plastic for weight and breakage in shipping.
